Yuna Lim (Korean: 임유나, Lim Yu-na) is one of the main characters of Season 1 of Odd Girl Out with guest appearances in Season 2. She appears to be cold-hearted and rude, but she is actually a kind and caring person towards Mirae Seo, Seonji Lim, and especially towards Nari Oh. She left at the end of Season 1 to study in the U.S., having appeared in over 200 episodes in Season 1. In Season 2, Yuna appears infrequently, usually when one of the girls is thinking about her or when Nari wrote her a letter. She returns in Chapter 335 to visit her friends for summer break.
Appearance[]
Yuna is very beautiful, to the extent where the students have said it is "illegal to be that pretty", and has been idolized by many, notably Bin. She has dark blonde, approximately waist-length, hair which she usually keeps down, and a mole under her right eye. She has grown notably taller during the period she was stuck in her room after she was heavily injured in a car accident. Throughout the webtoon, she is often seen wearing her school uniform with a coat, though she has been seen wearing other clothes (mainly branded) when outside of school.
After leaving South Korea to study abroad in the United States, she cuts her hair to be shoulder-length.
Personality[]
Yuna has been cold and arrogant since she was a child. She is often dismissive of others, not seeming to pay attention to her surroundings, and while she has many admirers, she has barely any close friends. After she was involved in a car accident with her mother, her personality changed drastically. She started having trust issues because of her abusive teacher, who caused her friends to turn on her after seeing the injuries she received from the accident. Nari was the only one who stood by her side, which is why Yuna is nice only to her. But, by the end of Season 1, she seemed to become much softer and nicer.
Background[]
Yuna comes from a very wealthy family. She lives with her mother, who is the CEO of a company. Her father is not mentioned nor seen in the webtoon, though some readers assume her parents are divorced. She is childhood friends with Nari, as both of their moms were childhood friends themselves and decided to introduce their children to each other. While Yuna initially disliked being around Nari, she slowly warmed up to her. However, due to a misunderstanding in middle school, the two temporarily ended their friendship before reuniting three years later in high school. Miji was the main cause of Yuna and Nari’s fallout.
Season 2[]
Yuna rarely appears in Season 2, as she is in the United States, but she is mentioned by the girls and appears special episodes. In Chapter 215, Nari writes Yuna a letter about how her, Mirae and Seonji will be in the same class for their second year. In Chapter 217, Yuna reads another letter that Nari sent, in which she talks about how she is getting along with her classmates (other than Chanyang, whom Nari says gets on her nerves), how she became class president and about the noise coming from the class above. Nari tells Yuna that she thought the noise issue was settled when she talked to Seungha, but it turns out, the class above didn't care. In the end of her letter, Nari writes, "If I'm gonna catch a few worms, I better get ready to get some mud on my hands, right?"
In Chapter 252, Mirae notices Chanyang and Seungha feuding over Nari and Mirae thinks to herself, "Yuna, when are you coming back? We've got a code red situation here."
After Chapter 217, Yuna doesn't make a present physical appearance in the webtoon until Chapter 335, when Yuna appears waiting for the girls at the school gate as they're leaving for summer break.
Before Chapter 335, Yuna appears as a figure in the sky and on the computer wishing Nari a happy birthday during her birthday party.
Relationships[]
Nari Oh[]
Nari was friends with Yuna since she was a child, though their relationship consisted mostly of Yuna bossing around the clueless Nari. After Yuna's accident, Nari was the only person to stick by her, which was the reason why Yuna is only kind to her. Nari is now her closest friend, and often the only person she treats with respect.
Mirae Seo[]
Mirae - going by Se-Ha - and Yuna first met at Rainbow Academy, where they took acting classes. Yuna was also in Se-Ha's school, and the two had a rivalry. After Se-Ha's career failed, she waited in the academy disguised with a hoodie and saw Yuna enter. They had an argument, and Se-Ha challenged Yuna to see if she had any friends. Yuna called Nari, and eventually gave Se-Ha her number. When Se-Ha hit rock bottom, the only person she talked to was Yuna, though, they mostly threw insults at each other; despite this, when Se-Ha found out what high school Yuna was going to, she decided she didn't want to leave Yuna, and went to the same high school as her while also changing her name to Mirae. They kept their friendship secret.
Seonji Lim[]
At the beginning, Yuna and Seonji had a distant relationship due to their opposite personalities - Seonji being naive and gullible, and Yuna being cold and distrustful of others. Later, Seonji attempted to get closer to Yuna, and they did during a sleepover because of Seonji taking care of a bug that landed on Yuna. Later on, it is revealed they met every Wednesday, where they talked and fed the janitor's dog together. They also worked together to collect stickers to make Nari's wish come true.
